How it works

A story your child directs

kidtold is built around one persistent character your child creates and grows โ€” not disposable, one-off tales.

  1. 1

    Create a character โ€” once

Your child builds a hero with simple taps: name, looks, personality, a few favourite things. We turn that into a character that stars in every story, with a consistent look and feel.

  2. 2

    Direct a story

Pick a theme and setting, choose a short bedtime tale or a multi-chapter adventure, and optionally turn on choose-your-own-adventure choices. Your child is in charge of what happens.

  3. 3

    It writes and narrates

kidtold generates the story text and gentle read-aloud narration โ€” then checks every word for safety before your child sees a thing.

  4. 4

    Read, listen, and choose

Pages turn with word-by-word highlighting as the story is read aloud. At branch points, your child picks what happens next. Finished stories are saved to a personal library to re-read any time.

  5. 5

    The character remembers

This is the magic: what happens sticks. Their character learns to sail in story six and still sails in story sixteen. New friends, pets, skills and big firsts carry forward โ€” without contradictions.
